You’ll learn about geologic and historic features hidden in Gorge landscapes. Between March 15 and October 31, try to find all 20 items listed.

Volunteer with Friends at our Annual Summer Picnic! July 27, 2014

Volunteer at our Annual Summer Picnic ! We need volunteers at this annual event to set up, assist with the potluck tent, help with parking cars, and clean up! This year’s picnic is in a beautiful oak grove on the property of a Friends' member, just north of Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

Volunteers are needed from approximately 11 – 4 pm.

Gorge Trivia Night

Test your knowledge of the Columbia Gorge in the first-ever Gorge Trivia Night! There will be thirty questions for your team of up to six people to answer. Our emcee for the evening will be Scott Cook, the author of wildly-popular Curious Gorge hiking guidebook. Raffle prizes will be awarded at intermission. At the conclusion of the event, a prize will be awarded to the winning team.

$10/person fee to play which includes a raffle ticket. This is a fundraiser event for Friends of the Columbia Gorge. All participants will receive a free decorative Historic Columbia River Highway poster.

We’ll begin playing at 7 pm. Come earlier to check in, save a table, grab a bite to eat and/or drink.

Missa Gaia / Earth Mass Concert

miss gaiaCelebrate the cultures and creatures of the whole Earth on Sunday, August 24th with the Missa Gaia PDX Community Choir directed by by Susan Peck.

The contemporary Missa Gaia/Earth Mass was composed by members of the Paul Winter ConsortThe work was commissioned in 1980 by the dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City as a contemporary ecumenical mass to celebrate the sacred beauty of Mother Earth and all her creatures. The music, in a variety of pop-jazz-new age styles, blends chorus, solo voices, chamber ensemble, pipe organ, rhythm section, world-beat percussion, and the voices of timber wolves, harp seals, humpback whales, thrushes and loons.
